COVID-19 has changed our habits, daily routines and, of course, our lives... but there is a change at hand!
SEISHIN Martial Arts Academy will be initiating a COVID-19 Response plan as set out in our policy in order ensure the health & safety of all our members.
Our policy can be viewed at the dojo.
The purpose is to provide a platform for all our students to continue to training & developing their karate skills in a sanctioned and recognised manner throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and establish a blueprint for all future events.
We have to establish an environment for members, parents & spectators where the risk of transferring the Covid- 19 and other viruses are minimised or completely eradicated.
The environment must be conducive, be competitive and realistic in terms of every day training and competition.
SEISHIN Martial Arts Academy bases our policy on COVID regulations gazetted on an ad hoc basis by government as well as the Occupational Health & Safety Act 1993 and the Disaster Management Act 2002.
We are also guided by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases Act and the World Health Organisation.
It is imperative that attendees of different classes do not breach the physical distancing requirements. Class schedules include a 15min arrival period and defined 15 min departure period following each class. For example, if a class ends at 17:45pm, all participants must exit the facility by 18:00pm and participants scheduled for the 18:00pm class may arrive no earlier than 17:45pm. It is vital to ensure both physical distancing as well as adherence to maximum gathering numbers. Greetings, exercises and training drills will be modified to comply with physical distancing and no physical contact. Systematic entry and dismissal are recommended.
All equipment used must be sanitised before and after each individual use. Products used for disinfection will be labelled as a virucide and should be used according to manufacturer’s directions. All high contact surfaces, such as doorknobs, counters and chairs will be wiped before the start of every class. Gym mats and sink (back of dojo) will be sanitised daily.
Those who may have been exposed to COVID-19 should seek further medical attention instead of attending the dojo. Any members who have been exposed to COVID-19 will not be permitted entry into the dojo until they have been in self-isolation for the generally accepted time period of 14 days.
Basic hygiene rules such as hand washing and not touching one’s face are widely publicised, but will be reinforced in the dojo. Hand sanitiser will be available upon entry into the dojo as well as within the training area. Members should arrive already in uniform. If members use public transport to come to training, they should wear a tracksuit over their uniform to keep it clean. Use of public toilets is not recommended.
Accurate attendance tracking is essential for contact tracing. We will keep daily records of all persons who enter the dojo, with a focus on full names, temperature and times of entry and exit.
If you feel unwell with flu-like or COVID-19 symptoms, even mild ones, please stay home and get tested for COVID-19. As a preventative measure the dojo shall have in place a formal, proactive screening procedure.
Temperature screening shall ensure that all persons with a temperature of 37.4°C or more are restricted from entry into the class.
Temperature screening will be conducted at the entrance to the class by the designated screener.
